About DPI
Who we are and what drives us
DPI works every day for the dignity, wellbeing and social inclusion of older people.
Our story and our reason for being
DPI was born from the conviction that an isolated older person is a person in distress — and that this situation is unacceptable. Across France, thousands of elders live alone, sometimes forgotten, often far from the information and rights that could improve their daily lives.
Our association is dedicated to giving every elder the means to live with dignity: through human presence, social connection, action against vulnerability and the defence of their rights. We believe there is no age limit to being listened to, surrounded and respected.
DPI is a declared non-profit association (loi 1901). It pursues no commercial activity: its resources come from donations and are used entirely for its social missions.
Our journey so far
DPI grew from a handful of neighbours who refused to look away, into a structured association serving older people across Reims and the Grand Est.

2011
A neighbourly idea
A small group begins visiting isolated elders in their building and street, simply to keep them company.

2012
DPI is founded
The association is officially declared (loi 1901) and registered under RNA W513001115, with its head office in Reims.

From visits to activities
Outings, shared meals and festive gatherings are added, turning one-to-one visits into a wider community.

The free benefits guide
We launch our free guide and support service so older people stop missing out on the rights they are entitled to.

A growing network
Dozens of volunteers and local partners now support hundreds of older people each year — and we are still growing.

How DPI is run — and how we stay transparent
As a loi 1901 association, we are accountable to our members and our donors. Clear, honest management is not optional for us — it is part of respecting the people who trust us.
A democratic structure
An elected, volunteer board sets our direction, and members vote on key decisions at the annual general meeting.
Donations used with care
We keep running costs low and direct resources to the field: presence, activities, support and the free guide.
